Frequently Asked Questions
How often would we meet?
My clients attend therapy at regular intervals, generally once a week. Some attend twice a week. Schedule permitting, I am sometimes able to accommodate meeting every other week.
What does the first session look like?
Following your free 15 minute consultation, if you decide to continue with Rabbit Den Psychotherapy, you will receive a few documents to fill out to help me get to know you. I will review these documents prior to our initial session, to help us to make the most of our time together. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, clarifying your hopes and intentions for the process. You’ll have the chance to share what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past, as well as anything that feels important for me to know. Then, drawing on my expertise and experience with a range of somatic, experiential modalities, I’ll propose a path forward, based on which experiential somatic modalities are likely to work best for you.
How long will I be in therapy?
The short answer is, it depends on what issues need addressing. While short term therapy can be helpful in some cases, deep change requires patience and persistence. It’s important to remember that most of the entrenched patterns that bring people into therapy have developed over the course of a lifetime. To unwind these patterns takes time.
That said, even in the span of a few sessions, many clients feel the beginnings of a shift, which may manifest as the seeds of new clarity, a little more spaciousness, or even just the relief which comes with sensing that you are on a fruitful path.
What I can tell you for sure is, you generally get out of therapy what you put into it. The more of yourself you bring, and the more you are able to open to the processes and go with it, the more benefit you are likely to derive.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you have a known conflict, you are welcome to cancel our session ahead of time with no charge. I just ask that you give me 24 hours notice. No shows and cancellations with fewer than 24 hours notice will be charged for the session, with the possibility of exceptions in the case of emergency. If cancellations happen frequently, we will have a conversation about whether our schedule needs reconsidering.
Do you take insurance?
As a therapist, I am committed to providing effective, responsive care that meets you in the fullness of who you are. I also go to lengths to ensure total confidentiality for my clients. For these reasons, I do not work with insurance companies.
This means…
- You do not need to have a diagnosis to receive care.
- You have the peace of mind of knowing your privacy is completely protected, leaving you in charge around what personal information you might disclose to other members of your health team.
Should you desire to involve your insurance company, I can, upon request, provide a super-bill, which is a detailed invoice that you submit to your provider for potential reimbursement. Please note that often times, coverage only begins after deductibles are met.
How do I get reimbursed from my insurance?
To learn more about how to submit a super-bill for possible reimbursement,, please contact your insurance provider prior to our first session. Ask them if you will be eligible for reimbursement from an out-of-network provider for the following codes:
90837 (60 minute session)
90791 (Intake)
If they say yes, and you let me know, I will, after our meeting, provide you with the superbill to submit.
What do sessions cost?
My rate for individual sessions is $160 per session. Couples sessions cost $200 per session.
I also reserve a limited number of spots for sliding scale. If you are in need of a sliding scale in order to do therapy, please let me know at the time of our consult.
